| PayPal, E-payments Gain Online Ground
Burt Reynolds is an unlikely choice for the role of Santa's helper. That didn't stop computer-maker Dell (DELL) from casting the actor in a series of commercials aimed at the social networking set. In the videos, launched on Nov. 16, Reynolds encourages viewers to buy Dell products online as holiday gifts for friends and family. The star of Smokey and the Bandit and Cannonball Run isn't the only surprising casting choice. Playing the part of payment collector is eBay's (EBAY) PayPal. Dell typically lets customers purchase computers with their Visa or MasterCard (MA) credit cards. But with this new service, all payments must go through a PayPal account. "People are moving to using different payment options, and looking at this one in particular opened up a lot of opportunities," says David Clifton, a spokesman for Dell's consumer group.

Would that we had more of you, and less of the religious nutjob demagogues in the Muslim community that cynically exploit ignorance and religion for their personal gains. Maybe the future would be a bit brighter for our failing multicultral experiment.

French film on Billy the Kid to premier here
A French film about the legendary outlaw Billy the Kid will premier in New Mexico on Nov. 3. "Requiem for Billy the Kid" was filmed primarily in Lincoln County in 2004 and meshes the narrative form with traditional documentary filmmaking to explore the Kid's career and death in 1881 by Sheriff Pat Garrett. Actor Kris Kristofferson voices Billy the Kid, who gives his own account of the evening he was killed while the audience follows the sheriff on the screen. The premier will be at the Spencer Theater for the Performing Arts in Alto near Ruidoso. The production is a presentation of Jean-Jacques Beineix and Cargo Films in association with Western Films. The producer is Carine Leblanc and the director is Anne Feinsilber. It was written by Feinsilber and Jean-Christophe Cavallin.
