Makes banking cheaper and more efficient

The Single Euro Payments Area becomes a reality tomorrow. HSBC will be introducing a number of propositions that will make life much easier for both personal and business customers.

SEPA aims to make cross-border electronic payments in euro in the 27 countries of the European Union, the European Economic Area (Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland) and Switzerland as quick, easy and efficient as domestic payments.

The implementation of SEPA will allow businesses and consumers to reap the benefits of a common currency and integrated payments system that have been established within the boundaries of the European Union.

Over the past year HSBC has been working hard to ensure its systems and tariffs are compliant with the requirements of the new payments area and which will result in cheaper and more efficient banking.

Cincinnati Reds Ready To Move Spring Training Cite To Arizona

Based on these choices, they should move to Arizona. It's a no-brainer.

I've heard from lots of fans complaining about the longer distances to Arizona and how they visit family in Florida each spring. What I haven't heard is an explanation for why there are rarely capacity or near-capacity crowds at Ed Smith Stadium to see the Reds. The place holds over 8,000, and the attendance usually is closer to 4,000. The only sellouts I've noticed the past two springs are when the Red Sox or Yankees visit. While those teams draw hundreds for their workouts at their own complexes, the Reds might draw dozens to theirs.

Goodyear will decide Monday whether to enter a 90-day exclusive negotiating period with the Reds, so obviously it's getting serious. If negotiations lead to a deal, Cincinnati would become the 15th team in the Cactus League.

Editor's Notes: Life's random circle of mystery

My uncle works as a Methodist minister in Tennessee and preaches funerals regularly.Just before services for my grandmother, he called the family together and told us something I'll never forget. As difficult as it was to say goodbye, we needed to remember that God has a perfect plan in giving and taking life. If we respect the majesty of birth, he reminded us, we must have faith even in the mystery of death.I witness the circle of life on a daily basis in Green Valley. In a retirement community, most of the residents know they're in the twilight of their lives. They've made plans for death beyond a casual thought. They've created wills. They've tied up loose ends. They've made checklists of things to do before dying. They've settled differences with family and friends. And they go on with life, staying optimistic and happy.Talking to senior citizens and hearing their hopes and prayers everyday has helped me develop an inner peace about the inevitability of death.
